Carmel is an experienced guitar, piano/keyboard and performance teacher. She teaches individual students and also takes group lessons.
Carmel studied classical guitar at the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music gaining an Associate Diploma of music. She helps aspiring musicians go from beginners to confident players and performers. Carmel teaches both children and adults. As well as learning an instrument she encourages students to sing along to their own accompaniment.
Carmel said “A young student that I was teaching had dyslexia and was having a hard time at school. I taught her the guitar and encouraged her to sing her favourite songs. She sang and played at her school Assembly. The other students thought she was amazing. She became more confident and improved in many other learning areas of learning at school.”
Learning music will give you renewed confidence knowing what you have achieved in a short space of time. There will also be opportunities to perform in front of others.
In my own musical journey I was held back because of a lack of confidence. My love of music was calling me to play, sing and share my gift with others which has brought me the sense of fulfilment that I needed.
This has led me to teach, perform and share my music at events nationally and hear my songs played on radio and TV. But most of all it has brought me inner peace and confidence. I also love to share my gift with my church community. I recall the first time I sang in front of an audience. I performed the whole time looking down! As I grew in confidence everything started to change and I thought, “I can do this”.
