ABOUT

Carmel  grew up on a farm at Yorkrakine in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia.   She has never been in any doubt where her talents lie and music has played a major role in every aspect of her life. She has built a reputation for her clear voice, guitar and piano expertise and for her warm and interactive performances. She entertains extensively at community events, festivals, running a music venue and touring with her 'Great Ride' show around Western Australia and also Nationally including the National Library of Australia.

Carmel's musical journey commenced at the tender age of 8 learning piano in a small country town. Carmel always loved making up little tunes she'd heard on the radio rather than practising the classical pieces needed for exams!

After leaving school Carmel took up the guitar.  This was a perfect accompaniment for singing.  She later studied classical guitar at the Conservatorium of Music in Western Australia where she gained an Associate Diploma.  One of her most requested songs is “Goodbye Beethoven”.  This song came about as a result of studying too many Beethoven symphonies!

Carmel's most recent recording is a collection of songs about God's wonderful creation, taking care of the earth and the gift of music.  To  listen to clips visit music. To purchase visit "We Are Loved"

One of Carmel's songs Whispers on the Wind was included on the ABC's "Australia All Over" album "Well I Love It".   Her songs are mainly about people and places and she is both fascinated and inspired by the unique heritage that we share in Australia.  She also writes material for children and produced a music resource for teachers called "Öut of this World".  She also delights in sharing her music with her church community.

"Songs of the West", an earlier album still receives airplay.  It is a favourite with travellers whilst driving throughout Western Australia and many have been sent overseas to remind expatriates of home.

In 2024 the Country Women's Association in Western Australia celebrated their Centenary.  Carmel wrote a song called “We'll be There” in recognition of the great work that they do and performed it at the Joondalup Resort on this special occasion.

Carmels songs are often performed by "One Big Voice choir" where over 4000 school children take part in an annual performance at the Perth Arena.
