“It was a cold, wet night but hard to find a seat last night when Carmel Charlton performed at the Troubadour in the Woy Woy. We knew she would be good, but still it was truly special to be able to experience a performer like her in person. What a beautiful voice. Clean, inventive, delicate guitar and a swag of amazing songs. Worth crossing the country for. How special was that?”
Carmel has never been in any doubt where her talents lie and music has played a major role in every aspect of her life. She has built a reputation for her clear voice, guitar and piano expertise and for her warm and interactive performances. She entertains extensively at community events, festivals and has toured with her 'Great Ride' show around Western Australia.
Carmel's musical journey commenced at the tender age of 8 learning piano in a small country town. Carmel preferred playing well known songs or making up little tunes on the piano rather than practising the classical pieces needed for exams!
After studying classical guitar at the Conservatorium of Music in Western Australia where she gained an Associate Diploma Carmel realised that she preferred writing songs and singing to classical guitar. Her song“Goodbye Beethoven” came about as a result of studying too many Beethoven symphonies!
Carmel has produced a number of CD's including “Whispers on the Wind”. The title track is featured on the ABC's Macca's Australia All Over album “ ”Well I Love it".
Her songs are mainly about people and places and she is both fascinated and inspired by the unique heritage that we share in Australia.
