Calling My Name 2010

I hope that you will find the music contained on this CD to be "food for the soul". Thank you to Sister Emilie Cattalini RSJ, who wrote the beautiful lyrics of

"Calling my name".

They speak of Mary MacKillop's spiritual connection with the Australian land and it's people and of the same God who today still calls us by name.

Dreaming Still - 2007

Dreaming Still is a reflective and inspiring mixture of songs and poetry with music and vocals by Carmel, with lyrics and spoken word by writer and poet Gwen Atkinson.

Both are highly accomplished artists in their respective fields and this finely arranged collection, touches a variety of aspects of the human experience. It guarantees to be appreciated by many people.

“I Rode on the Wings of an Angel” has an ethereal quality as Carmel’s voice soars alongside the cello and some fine whistle playing by John Ralph.

This is followed by the poem “Love at Leisure” and the “Road to Kokoda”.  The latter is a heartfelt and first-hand account of heroism and sacrifice in Work War 11.  Gwen’s first husband was killed in action and never got to see his new-born son.

Carmel’s arrangement of “Dreaming Still” reflects the essence of the CD.  At 92 years young, Gwen continues to be actively creative.  She is an inspiration of what can be achieved later in life with a positive outlook.  “Conquer its heart, bend its will, I am the dreamer, dreaming still”

Whispers on the Wind - 2005

A mixture of folk and country come together in this wonderful new album.  From the up tempo and quirky ‘Goodbye Beethoven’ to the more reflective ‘Whispers on the Wind’, this CD contains a collection of Carmel’s most requested songs.

Nine songs on the album were written by Carmel. Two are co-writes with the fine Australian poet Patrick O’Leary and one with poet and conservationist Frank Smith who was a true West Australian treasure.

Some amazing musicians have contributed to the making of this album including  Andrew Winton who helped on a number of arrangements and Toni Italiano of Pet Rock Studios who guided and shared his expertise during the recording process.
